The Nevada County Department of Agriculture, under the direction of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), is responsible for conducting regulatory and service functions pertaining to agriculture in Nevada County. These functions are mandated by state and federal laws and regulations and by local measures and ordinances by the Nevada County Board of Supervisors. Even though the enforcement of these laws and regulations is important, the primary purpose and objective of the Agricultural Commissioner’s office is the promotion and protection of the county agricultural industry and the general public.
